Cool relief for muscles and joints
– Soothing gel that combines hot and cold properties
OsteoFreeze Gel contains a combination of active ingredients that can assist with the relief of painful muscles and joints associated with sprains, strains, swelling, muscle spasms and stiffness.
It contains Capsaicin, which can assist in pain management, swelling and blood circulation. Arnica can assist with inflammation and swelling support, while the Menthol provides a soothing cooling down effect.
How the active ingredients work
Capsaicin is the ingredient found in different types of hot peppers, such as cayenne peppers, that makes the peppers spicy hot. Capsaicin works by first stimulating and then decreasing the intensity of pain signals in the body. This action is attributed to the capsaicin depleting or interfering with Substance P. Substance P is a neurotransmitter in the brain and spinal cord, and is associated with some inflammatory processes in the joints. The sensory function of Substance P is thought to be related to the transmission of pain information into the central nervous system.
Arnica is a popular complementary remedy as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic (pain relief) topical ointment. The sesquiterpene lactones (class of chemical compounds found in plants) of arnica are responsible for the anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity. These constituents attack inflammatory processes at a very central point, by inhibiting the transcription factors NF-kappa B and NF-AT (Protein complex).
Menthol is a component of peppermint leaf and is responsible for the cooling effect. This cooling effect can be attributed to menthol acting as a specific stimulant to cold nerve
endings resulting in a cool soothing effect.
